Perhaps not everything is about gender… The “queen bee” syndrome of women sabotaging other women is not supported by evidence. If anyone needs to lighten the mood today, watch the very funny Netflix Loudermilk episode on “sensitivity training” – the discussion on “gender blindness” is actually very insightful. Maybe sometimes people’s bad behaviour is not a gender thing at all, but simply a “human thing”
I have met Queen Bees – they are just brilliant at masking their behaviour to the outside world. Both genders cover the full spectrum of behaviours and both have champions and detractors. Balance and merit are the goals here so agree with the ‘human thing’ – we are all just human after all.
I used to hear the comment that there is only room for one woman in the C-Suite or only one on the board. This made it a dog eat dog competition between women for what was, in most cases, just a token role anyway. I hope that has changed. How much nicer would the world be if we all just got along and supported one another regardless? Let’s try to do that every day, not just on IWD.
Beautifully put, Rosalie.
